Horse Nation - The horses who literally keeping the Indonesian island of Gili running
Story
Motor vehicles are banned on the small Indonesian island of Gili Trawangan.
It's up to the many workhorses to keep the infrastructure running - ferrying around hundreds of tourists a day, collecting the rubbish and supplying the many bars and restaurants.
This film takes a look at the conditions these horses are forced to live in and shows the positive steps been made by those on the island who seek a brighter future for the horses of Gili.
Filming
When I first decided to become a full nomadic filmmaker I quit my job and headed straight to Gili Trawangan. This idyllic Gili islands boast crystal clear waters, glorious beaches and great nightlife. I spent an unforgettable month there living at a hostel for free in return for helping them with their photography and videography, I used my spare time to work on my own projects such as the Horses Of Gili.
I’d spoke to a few people who pointed me in the direction of this organisation so I reached out to Tori and made it happen.
